I am trying to put together a "Drag Showdown" event for later in the season from the Jalopy Showdown. I am meeting with the people at the track this Saturday, so I would like an idea of when we would want to do this. There are a ton of events to try to work around in the summer/early fall ,any ideas of a good weekend? I dont want to step on any toes for other shows in the region that any of us would be going to. If this works out, it would be a for sure date at a real track. Ideas please...

    Larry,

Outside of car events, most people seem to be pretty busy with family parties, bbq's, etc in the late summer. For me, things seem to slow down sometime in mid-October. Just my 2 cents.

    Ed

PS - Congratulations on the TRJ coverage!

The last weekend in Sept. would be a good choice.

The month of August is pretty booked with the Nats in L'ville the first weekend, then so many folks heading to the salt the next two weeks, then the HAMB Drags the last weekend. August is FULL.

First weekend in Sept, isn't that the Cumberland Run? Second weekend would kinda be OK, third weekend is NSRA Kzoo and GG Rainbeck, so that leaves last weekend in Sept pretty open.

Of course I'm not to informed of the real local to PA events.

I think if you head into Oct for a date your just playing craps with chilly temps.

What about early summer, right after York, The end of the season is always risky with rain, well I guess the whole season is.

  13. how bout tthe end of august???

  14. Cumberland Run is first weekend in June, or was this year.

July is the dead zone for events, at least in the south.

    August-September is pretty packed.

  15. You have heard of the HAMB Drags haven't you? :D

Beaver Springs is a cool little track. Have it in September or October, the weather will be nice for some good times. Plus, I should be back north by then...

The Jaolpy Showdown is probably my favorite show, May 19th is the goal I've set for my '32 Coupe, I'd love to have it at the show.

We have our show (The Rumblers. NYC) the last week of August, so if you do it then none of the NYC, NJ, and Rumblers Nomads will be able to make it..

You can check out this website:
    http://www.ncsr.4t.com/index.html
There is alot of crap listed on there - but most of the national shows around the North East and some of the bigger events are listed. Might want to print it out and highlight the shows that you don't want to interfear with.

    Things to watch out for:
    Obviously HAMB Drags
Rumbler's have a few shows during the season (NY, CT, NJ)
    AlterBoys @ Ralph's Diner - in Sept??
    Burlington, VT
Rainbeck, NY (Uhh I mean Rhinebeck)

    DUCK!! You're famous!!!

    Larry- See ya Saturday.

If all goes well, I'm going to try and get Traditional Rod and Kulture Illustrated magazine involved somehow. Late October looks pretty good to me.

    Showdown...Drag springs beaver!!! :)

    Sorry I'm dislexant.

Is the last weekend in Sept stepping on the greaseball's toes? If not it would be a good week.

  30. Having the show in september brings more chances of rain. August is always packed. I propose something earlier.

Im already building a car for it.
