Got a phone call yesterday from a friend who’s selling a bunch of early Oldsmobile parts from his fathers estate. I always loved these early motors but literally know nothing about them.Quick internet searches on here and elsewhere indicated that I found some cool stuff. Here’s some of what I got I wanted to share with the good people on the hamb.
Awesome!!! I see heads, did you get a block too? If not find a core engine and do an Olds build up. I'd be really tempted to rebuild the carbs, but not "restore" the intake and valve covers. Run them as found. Maybe those headers too. Drop it in a beater, primered 28 Roadster Hiboy and drive the piss out of it.
Cool stuff! Is that 4 carb intake a Horne (super duper rare) or a Cragar (super rare). Headers are also rad...buy some lotto tickets...you have good luck!
Wow, nice score. Love that NOS mechanical tach drive Mallory dizzy Sent from my SM-G950F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hotrod Treasure...the right place at the right time...thanks for sharing @Fordgasser1 and hopefully it can help get you back to the glory days...and if not I'm sure someone here would be happy to take it on...
Thanks guys! Included in the stash are two engines and a block(picking those up today)..both short blocks have pop-up pistons..One is a fresh 371 short block, the second i am not sure of. Its a 4.060 bore with the 3.4 stroke..Has engle cam, crazy looking set of lifters and adjustable rockers..Also, several sets of #10 heads,a pair of NOS #22 heads still in the box, extra camshafts and pistons/rods to go with the stroker crank. The guy said his dad used to drag race and supposedly there was a blower setup that someone bought already(DARN!)I'll post more pics today. The one engine was completely assembled so plans are to go through it and put it in something cool..Maybe my 33 roadster?
@Fordgasser1 Nice score George!! I just picked up 3 324 olds motors one is a runner already, and ton of parts. I have nos and near nos fuel pumps, and timing covers, a couple of cool finned valey covers, Edelbrock 4x2 intake, let me know if you need stuf to complete a motor. and let me know if you are getting rid of any of that stuff...I'm on the hunt for a fly wheel for a 303 or 324, and possibly a cam.
Here’s a few more pics notice the main cap straps on the bare block has new cam bear in it and clean bores..More pics to come..
Not looking to sell anything at this time. Thanks Jason! I didn't find any flywheels but the guy promised me if he finds anything else(there's a whole shop full of stuff) he'll keep me in mind. The flywheels in the pics are from a chevy powered Willys i just got..There's a bunch of SBC stuff and a 4'x4'x4' crate filled with 4 speed stuff at this shop i plan to go looking through.
I have one off an old hotrod 303 motor but nobody on here knew why some guys used the older inline flywheels back in the day. They all added the V8 Olds pressure plate bolt pattern, to be able to use the V8 pressure plate. It is thinner/lighter than a stock 303, but the clutch face surface is about 1/2" closer to the crank. That would not be good for a trans that needed an extended crank pilot bushing. When Heathen was still on here, he had an old hotrod 303 with the same flywheel, and said his had a 1/4"? spacer between it and the crank, but he did not know why rodders used these, and did not know what type of transmission was on that engine. It uses the 303-only starter as far as teeth mesh....(this flywheel has same tooth count as all 303 had). If you think you can use it, I can do pics with measurements to the face & whatever else you want. (I'm offing my leftover Rocket stuff)
