OK, I am lookin for a 3.0 Ring and Pinion set for a '35 to '48 Ford rear end. Speedway list 3.54 as the highest ratio (lowest number). Does anybody make a higher gear, or even did Ford make them. I want it for a Bonneville project, and for various reasons don't want to use a Quick Change. I'm sure you Early Ford gurus can point me in the right direction. Cheers, Stewart.
3.54 is the highest commonly available, ones in the 3.20's have been made. I think someone makes small batches from time to time for optimistic Model A people, but I don't think I've seen any for V8's since Getz gear ads from the 1960's. Try talking with Joblot and Speedway. Getz used to make an incredible array of ratios for these, but all would be extremely uncommon finds now. Best bet would be to go lower, instead of higher, on rear and then get a Mitchell overdrive setup to suit.
...OR If you think you'll have the power to pull it, a Mitchell on the torque tube feeding a Columbia rear!!
Try this. This guy was making new 3.25 rear gears for banjo aps 37-48. around $725. per set. 704-735-5463
