Before I got onto this forum I thought that GM, Hilborn and Kinsler were the only companies to build mechanical injection systems suitable for a traditional hot rod. However at least two threads on this forum demonstrate that this is not the case. What other injection systems where available in or before the sixties? Who was able to build an injection system in their own garage? What did these systems look like? How well did they work? How reliable where they? Did anyone make a system that could be used easily on the street?
Algon was a early company. And no, none are "easily" run on the street. Not saying it wasn't done or couldn't be done, just not very reliable. Early mechanical injector where made to run at full throtle.
there was a good, detailed article in the last issue of hot rod on a guy that daily drives one of the pete jackson units in a small block altered style nova. it's not on their site yet, but should be soon. worth a look. whopping 8mpg on the street.
