I'm not sure but I do believe Lee's aging a bit here ........... Must be tossing a lever's getting to'im. Saw this one over on the ANRA board.
That's a cool picture. Fits the era well. And while we are at it, congratulations on the E/Gas win Rocky, that little Maverick does well!!
Thats cool Old6', I don't know how I missed that one! Tamara is going to check on having that done with the photo of Barn Job and Team TWIRL'N and I'll send you one. Thanks Tom, The Comet has been good to me and deserves paint
No, I need to get after it Going to paint the Comet this winter also Tonight were working on a truck for a Christmas Parade.........Lookout Old6'
parade was fun pop we might have to start building floats HAHAHA maybe for the ol rose parade and we could have a slow race with old6 dragfest here we come
Check out the DragFest video http://www.randkdragfest.com/main.php Pretty COOL & includes some shots of Team TWIRL'N s HA/GR
Damn! That looks cool.I've raced at Famoso a couple of times and I love that place.Your HA/GR car is lookin good.
Well OK we Lee and I got after it this weekend. We cut the holes in the intake and positioned the carb mounting, I made some small supports since the Strombergs sit so high. I'm still undecided about how to weld the adapters to the cast iron head, I'm not taking it off. There are some low temp brazing/soldering products I might try I can't wait to get these carbs figured out and see how they wake up the old 144 CI Ford Marked the position close to the front and rear since we're only running 2 carbs Cut the holes with a hole saw using a vacuum as we drilled (not shown) Comedian 3 Generations on this project The supports I made and a view of the fit Damn they look good! I don't know if Lee will be able to see over them
"Damn they look good!" Damn, they look good! Yep, right nice lookin' set o' jugs indeed. A lot of the guys runnlng that built-in log used to make lower riser flanges to fit, tap it and then just bolt the carb risers on with a hand made gasket.
the inboard boat racers around use to remove the frost plugs at each end of the log and ream it out and then port the intake
Now that really looks sweet!!!! (or as Mudflap says!!!!) Let us know how you end up attaching it & test results!!!
Cool mod Rocky!! Now that you have a holesaw....... Knew some sports car racers back in the '70s that put small formula cars together using "All State 11" torch rod, (I think that was the name, the old brain slips sometimes). I believe it was a silver bronze alloy. Low temp and strong as hell. They crashed one and the tube tore (stretched and bent first), but the joint survived. The stuff was supposed to have been developed in WWII for aircraft structures.
Rocky.. You think yours sets high, Wait till you see the two on my Chev manifold.. Your set up really looks cool...Be very careful obout getting anything in that manifold when welding it...
There is a Silicon Bronze rod for tig welding, that is low temp & super strong also, sticks to about anything. Make a super looking joint, probably close to what 64 Dodge is talking about for torch.
That was an idea but the hole was going to be awfully small. I know you guys would of liked the old 144 Ford restricted
