Zombie, keep the return road in front of the grandstands.

  4. I've asked here and directly on their event email about running my blown nitro burning 1960 Pontiac powered rail from Arizona. I have yet to get a reply if there will be a class for me to run in or not.
HOW can I plan if I am not told there will be a class to run in?

    geeezzz

  8. I did get ahold of Randy and he said I am welcome to bring and enter my Top Fuel Pontiac. This may be a good event for me because my car does not run with the big dogs as I am still learning.
With that, now I'll see if I can get a driver and crew set up and we'll make it.

    Looks like a good time.

Does anyone know if the special rate has been updated at the Doubletree hotel? When I made my reservations they said they did not have anything on the books for the "Special Dragfest offer" of $89.00/night that is listed on the Dragfest website. Do I need to speak with in-house reservations, perhaps?

I don't have the newest rulebook so I'll recoomend calling Helmet City in Oakland, CA. Ask for Kyle (Siepel), the owner who is a racer and he'll set you up. Tell him Rocky Phillips recommended you call him, maybe save you a few bucks. Phone number is 1 888 343 5638.

im working on the entertainment now. it looks like it will go like this:

fri: 7:00 red eye junction - 8:30 2 lane blacktop - 10:00 red eye junction
sat: 7:00 dynatones - 8:30 dreams of legends - 10:00 70s country band (i cant remember their name)

we have had a ton of pre registration this year. it looks like it will be quite a bit bigger.

    What, no "Red Asphalt"? :D

  21. Hey Applekrate, "Great attitude mate". A couple of friends and I came over from Australia for last years March meet. we are all old racers from the '60s-70s. had a great time, but this deal sounds even better in some respects. Bands, movies, cars. We will hire a mobile home this time to get more into the atmosphere at night. The fuel altered match race deal sounds awesome. Can't wait.

I talked with Randy last week, about classifications. He said just leave it blank, and we'll fill it in up there.
Hell, just put me somewhere in the staging lanes, I'll have a good time no matter what class I run!!!

  24. Plans have changed. I will not not bringing the Pontiac AA/Fuel Dragster to run in Top Fuel. Instead of the normal qualifying and eliminations, as the other classes do. The top fuel show is being booked in and not be qualified but run Chicago style. They all get paid if the win or not.
Since there is no chance for my team to win because of the booked in cars, it would not make sense to run my car.

However, I do wish to support the event and will attend as a spectator and look forward to attending for the first time.
I wish my altered wheelbase funny car was ready but, maybe next year.
I've been attending nostalgia meets at Bakersfield now since '92 and have never been disappointed. I'm sure it'll be a great show and worth going to.

i am totally opposed to the top fuel class we are running. those of you who are not interested in seeing new cars with front motors run at a nostalgia event, please let my partners know!

So it'll be another T/F road show rather than an open race. Not my thing, but I certainly hope it accomplishes what he needs it to.

Sad call 'Krate. Understandable of course, but I'd liked to've seen your car.

besides the fact its a road show, THEY ARE NOT NOSTALGIC! anyhow, i talked with pops last night and he gave me the thumbs up to add another class just for the real top fuel cars if we can get a few to commit.

Any report on the size of the straight axle class? We just fired off the new 650 h.p. small block 410 awhile ago, and much to my surprise, its tame sounding with a full exhaust system!!! 540 lbs ft. outta the hole off the line may finally make it lift that heavy front axle off the ground!!

im not sure what that particular class has, but they have told me that pre registration is 3 times what it was last year.
