  9. Ah, Bucksnort: The Tocco-Harper-Garten and DiMatteo Brothers altereds were some of the best looking cars out there. Had the Hot Rod photos ("In Color!") hanging on my walls as a kid.

    And just for the record I do believe Nasty Benjamin, Tom, Leon and Lippy hold the funnycar body launch altitude record. At Bakersfield. :D

    10-12 years ago the DiMatteo Bros Bantam was for sale in Arizona for about 12K. It had an an injected small block. If I remember right it came with a small enclosed trailer too. I talked to the guy but it was stretch to afford it at the time, and it was a long ways away. Wonder where it is now?

    The DiMatteo car served as the lone altered entrant in combo elim at the 71 PDA event. Car made it all the way to the finals where it had to race Adams and Enriquez A/FD. The rail won, but the Bantam beat a bevy of other rails to get to the final. And yes, the car was proof that a good looking machine can be competetive
