Smokey you have no idea how much!! Getting a little help with these pictures from the folks here has been a gigantic improvement over where I was before. So, keep them comming guys!!!! Keep digging through those boxes of photos and magazines!! You have ALL been a huge help so far!!

    Thanks!

Now, I'm thinking and this could get dangerious, there MIGHT be some people here who may have connections to Tom "Smoker" Smith.

So here's what I'm thinking...if there are maybe I could get photos of them from the old days and one of them now. Maybe even add a recording of them saying hi!

I wonder if it would be OK to start a thread for this cause I feel like this might lead to a hijack of this thread. I don't want that to happen because this is a great source of drag history and pictures.

Nice pix, Bucksnort. I've got a shot of the near car in 20957 at Lebanon. He was kinda traveling with "Wild Bill" Rubin (wasn't everybody named Bill nicknamed "wild"?) from Northeast Speed Enterprises. They were the first race hemis I ever saw in person.

    Well, O.K., "Double D".

Sorry for the blur jobs but I was a 10yr. old kid with a (I think)
Kodak 110 in between doing pit work on Dad's rail.
Get in, (take pics) get out, back to work.

July 1970. East coast A/FC curcuit? Maybe Q-City?
With that ridge in the background ? Any HAMB'er
    know that track?

    Any-who. Enjoy! - Smoke

Besides The Virginia Twister Challenger and Jack Ditmars, Bill Lerner served as one of the few east coast guys to come out West. He did it in the spring of 1971 while it was still snowing back East. He ran a couple of the west coast inj events on straight alky. It was the orange sherbit colored 70 bodied version.
