Just when you thought you've seen it all! Been to a lot of swap meets over the years, never seen a set of those in the wild. Thanks

  7. Interesting that behind the guy kneeling there's a V8-60 Kurtis midget.

  8. The driver has no goggles. That would be a little ruff on the eyes!

One of the Dragsters I ran, didn't have valve caps on the front, after a 190 MPH run I decided to check the air as it looked a little low on both, one tire had 7 lbs the other 13. They had 32 before the run.

  10. A good chance the goggles came off after they suddenly accumulated a couple of quarts of oil. Makes it easier to see where you're going...........

There was a Bandini that was raced at the drags but this is not it.

  13. L.C. Kirby ran a Bandini powered by a blown Cad. He held the NHRA A Modified Sports record until Sam Parriott came along with his second Kurtis sports car powered by a blown 460 Ford.

I didn't know (along with numerous other things) that Jack Costella was into drag racing back then. It was just the beginning of his success in going under the wind rather than thru it.

An Illinois team, Dennison, Arlasky & Knox is in the near lane. That chassis and driveline was sold to Ron Pellegrini for his Super Mustang and the Mustang fiberglass body was the genesis of his Fiberglass Ltd. business.
