Mostly aluminum. I think it weighed under 1000 pounds.
    Controversial, by NHRA standards.

When Larry moved to the Midwest, he hooked up with several engine guys and ran their engines in his roadster, which he originally built in California. I think that Harvey Goldberg, whose Olds Larry also ran, was from Michigan, and Dave Powers was from Dubuque Iowa --- when I wasted the Herbert roller lifters in my own Ardun, I wrote Dave to see if he had any, but by then he had sold his Ardun stuff. I am guessing that Larry may have run into Dave at a midwest drag racing meet and the Powers and Riley team raced all over the midwest.

A little bit of history gone.
The property that "Russ Davis Ford" (Covina) was situated on, a little over a year ago, turned into "several", crammed together, condominium units, and a couple of small shops !
The original dealership sat empty for MANY...years, until it was finally sold and made into dwellings.

  20. Mike I always say California was a magical place after WWII until about the mid 80’s…was always my dream to live there as a youngster growing up in the cold Mid West…now many friends I have that were So Cal natives are retiring and moving away…all day it’s not the same place they were born and raised…

    Yeah, pretty much.
I moved away for about 8 years, then ended up back just a short distance from where I grew up, in about 1980. Things had changed, but not by a lot yet.
About the last ten or so years, things have changed...a lot. Although...Clippinger Chevrolet, across the street from Russ Davis Ford...is still there. Well, the property and building are. I think there's a fight between the city and what's left of the Clippinger family.

The little gas station, on the south side of the Russ Davis property, where a lot of racers hung out in the mid to late 60's, got turned into a small shop, then about a year ago, got leveled and became a modern building.

I wish I would have had the forethought to take a bunch of pictures of the area, back in 1965 or so..!

Now back to you regular picture station !
