It's also good to know that your head would protect the roll bar.

My absolute favorite place to be on a Saturday night, in the front rows of that grandstand on the left. In the push start era you couldn't get much closer to a running nitro car unless you were tuning it or driving it. I'd stand there shivering in the cold, damp Long Beach night air until the last car disappeared into the darkness down there. Boy that photo brings back great memories.

That's a pretty serious Ardun powered dragster. I know that their Safeway Sandblasting Willys ran good with Ardun Ford power, I wonder how they did with the dragster. What class would they be in? D/D with a flathead, bump up to C/D with the OHV conversion?

I have one of those injectors and they are real crude compared to any others

Nowadays there’s so many people around the starting line you about can’t do a push start I love doing that with my dragster the crowd loves that kinda stuff in my opinion if your not with the car getting ready to run you don’t need to be anywhere around the staring line

Bob, in the early 60's, a blower moved you up a class as well. So it was probably B/D.

    Some kinda optical illusion here.
The blower (upper area), injector appear at a MUCH steeper angle than the rocker cover angle. Even looking at the header flange area, that angle is less than the injector angle.
Maybe the blower belts...just too tight..!
