Per the rules back then 7 inch tired were required on M/P and those mufflers were just hung under there for apperance per NHRA rules.

It's not likely. How fast could he possibly be going after that curb on those skinny tires?

My buddy Rich Hall had a stock 38 or so Chevy sedan. He could get it bouncing and pull the front wheels in an intersection.

It was never a real drag race car (apart from a couple of match races with Ivo) so it does not really fit the theme of the thread anyway (and especially not in its current form). Plus, is there a reason for the rerun of a lot of the same photos from your Wednesday post?

Like the Grabowski T, this is not a drag race car--please keep the thread on topic.

  15. It’s insulting, I say it’s insulting to both Norm and the Hot Rod community that some fool (moron that is, a total jackass) would ruin that car.

Hey man, I'm glad you posted those pictures. It's just another era of hot rodding we all went through and there were many that you either liked or didn't. This happened to many famous show cars. There was a famous 53 or 54 chevy custom back in the day called Moonglow that went through many changes and eventually ended it's day being sent to the crusher. Let's face it, who would have ever imagined back in the day these cars would have historic value or worth anything now and the fact that they even existed in any form still is amazing. I'm sure if you told those builders of these cars 50 plus years later they would shape hot rodding today they would not have believed it.

Tony Waters built this deuce roadster with Chuck Edwards, Jim Sughrue and Jerry Smith. They normally ran it at the salt (first hiboy roadster over 200mph at Bonneville), but sometimes he put slicks on it, did a gear change, and took it to the drags. He ran a blown Chrysler in it at Bonneville (the SCTA "D-class" number is on the side, back when big engines got lower alphabet letters), but I am not sure what he is running in this picture, though he also ran Desotos in his T-roadster (also partnered with Jim Sughrue and Irv Guinn). I think that this could be Bakersfield. Photo by Charles Zaren. The car is preserved today, with a blown Desoto.

Well, I have to say that I understand where you're coming from. I understand so well that I
    won't mention the photos of:

    Shirley Muldowney's 1972 Mustang F/C
    Al Segrini's '74 Vega F/C
The "Blue Max" '74-78 style Mustang F/C

Along with photos of '70-73 Cuda Funny Cars and Pro Stocks,
Chevy Monza Funny Cars, the Gapp & Roush four door Maverick
and the non-HAMB friendly Camaros, Novas and Javelins, and
    even an Opel GT.
