  1. Thanks Dean - should I being doing the full page picture or the thumb nail ? These survived in a corner of Bob's shop along with some of his old trophy's - he knew they were a little damaged - he thought to toss them out but I said nooo - they still are worth saving....recently had a fire at my old place....so they kinda survived again. Any one that wants or needs a copy - maybe from about 1958 up to about 1965....let me know....free shipping !

  2. Please post the full image size. I would love to have a copy of the issue from '59 with the title "Ivo Easter Winner" and a drawing of Tommy's Buick digger in a giant wheelie head on. Can't remember the exact week, but it would have been early April. That was the first drag race I ever attended. Tommy beat Jim Nelson for TE. It was at old San Gabe.

Those were the days! (When it took two blown Pontiacs to beat an injected Chevy. I might be wrong – this isn't at the finish.)

  22. I think the fact that Eddie is already a half a car out on the Chevy right at the start says it all here.

    Pat:

Antone lived not far from my home back in those day's and he was a real character and also a very interesting person. Did Dino ever manage to get Antone to come to the Dover Reunion shows? Jim Hill

A while back in the Corvette Gasser thread here on the HAMB there was some discussion as to the fact that this may have previously been the Ernie Dutre car that won Street Elim at the Winternationals in approx 1965. Cattaneo also won at the Winters in the later 60's taking the B/MP class trophy.Visually the cars are near identical with Torquethrust and steel wheels, long shackles etc. although Dutre's version did have the corners of the lower pan radiused ahead of the front wheels so maybe Fred simply copied the stance of Ernie's car.

The car in the near lane is Dave Koffel's Flintstone Flyer Too. Built to replace the original Flyer (a Packard) it only raced for a single season (1964) as Dave made a Chrysler connection (through Herm Mozer) and after racing S/S and A/FX Mopars he went to work full time at Chrysler in 1968. Read more here: http://www.hotrod.com/articles/hrdp-1002-flintstone-flyers/
