Gary if that red modified roadster was a so-cal car, it might have the Kal Nelson surplus car from Sun Valley for his boy to run as they had one like that

The 150 was ran at George Field Il. and the above pic. could well have been taken there. My first trip down the strip was there

Interesting photo. This is McEwen in what had been the Tirend car running in the latter part of 1969 as Beebe and McEwen sans the forward body panels. After John Mulligan's fatal incident at the US Nationals Beebe put the late hemi from the Fighting Irish car in Goose's car to fulfill the booking for the Beebe and Mulligan team. The car eventually ended up in the hands of Ron Kolb (Leland's son) and survived (at least from the motor back) to be restored to the early hemi Tirend configuration.

  23. Looks like a 100 lb gauge.
    Line running down behind block.
    I'm guessing oil pressure.

  24. It's an oil pressure gage, Garlits ran one on all his FED as far as I know.

  26. Oil pressure. Was always right in view so that as you were pushed down the return loop you could see when oil pressure came up before you lit the mag. That way you didn't hammer out the bottom end when the engine fired.

UK - Stewart-Warner ran a magazine ad in the '70s showing the cockpit of, I believe, Big's digger. Stated he only ran one gauge. It was oil pressure. Possibly in an issue around here, I'll look.
