Ken Spence, Mk 11 Zephyr (English Ford), 298 Ford power with 4 48IDA downdraft Webers, hence known as the Zepyhr/Cobra. The photo may be from an event that was run on public roads near his hometown of Kerang, Victoria, Australia.

    drag dragster surfers wreck (2).jpg

This has been posted somewhere on here, I think the old photo thread maybe by Gary Reynolds). I was hoping someone would recognize it and comment. It looks maybe like a RCS car even a little like the Surfers ( I know it has a blower belt idler and they didn't run one). or am I dreaming? also anybody recognize the track shut down area?

I don't think that track is Fernando as it had a creek on the left , plus the bridge up on Foothill Blvd that the strip ran under at the end with piles of dirt under the bridge too and no trees like that

The black top was not that clean & nice as in the pic

I just tripped over this video on U-tube. It shows drag cars actually in motion :) :) :)
From the 1966 Dragfest event at Castlereagh, near Sydney, Australia. Bob Keith, Tony Nancy, my mate George "Bushmaster" Schrieber in Roth's Yellow Fang, Ron Colson, and Ash Marshall in the former Potter and Winters Vandal (now in the Garlits museum).

Got this Email from one of the Whiz Kids .

The picture was taken in 1965. Don Neal was the owner of the Kent Fuller car.
The engine belonged to " Old AA/Fuel Altered Guy had a black Fiat", can't remember his name tonight.
The old guys engine would blow up all the time. "Big Fires". Don could not keep a nice paint job on his car.
So he went looking for a new partner.
The Whiz Kids were racing Top Fuel with a great engine but the Jim Davis chassis just broke in half and we went looking for another chassis. So just make Don Neal a Whiz Kid and let him paint his car again.
Picture of the Shark Car attached, with the purple paint job which started the 1966 season.
The car was painted again "Yellow" towards the end of the year 1966.
Before we took it to the Formula One Grand Pre in Mexico City. and before the Worlds Finals in Tulsa.
