It is actually Brissette's RCS car at the Pond but with Kelly Brown at the wheel in the latter half of 1967 and yes, the motor was way back--20.5" out. This car was runner up to the Hawaiian at the Winters with Wild Bill Alexander at the wheel before Sutherland destroyed the Charger at the March meet in 65 and took over driving Brissette's car. Brown started driving it in mid 1967. This is the car that Roger "Riceman" Lee recreated.

This is Sutherland in the car--the famous Flying Drag Link photo.

And here is Roger in the re-pop.

I always look forward to your informative posts, Gary. You really know your stuff. This is obscure, but you have the details 100% correct. I know this as I was a close Farhner associate in those days. This is the only time it ever ran.

  13. I'd love to take credit but I can't! I lifted that quote straight off the web! Don't recall where it originally was from.
MANY of my posts are direct quotes from others work, some are mine.
I don't mean to take credit for other peoples writing and knowledge,

  14. I'd guess pits. Grass and dirt pits were common i the 60's. Gravel could be deluxe!

I almost went back and changed the caption, but was going to say that Brisette was driving, forgot that Kelly Brown and Bill Alexander also drove it...thanks!

  16. Roger is quite a guy and his work in recreating cars is amazing. I haven't been to Bako for three years now, I REALLY miss it. So many good people and great cars and GREAT RACING!
This is what it's all about.
