Swinger II would be Joe Winter, not sure where this is...Frank Pedregon's coupe behind him.

    3096073.jpg
Jack Teagarden, from Columbus, OH, injected Lincoln, homemade frame ...well engineered, was in HRM.

Heavily touched-up photo of two street roadsters at Pomona, before the track officials had the pumphouse at the end removed.

Pacific Northwest, not sure where, and can't read the name on the nose...anyone?? (Northwind, ??) (Pacific Raceways??)

    Karamesines03.jpg
The Greek, given the Spanish moss in the trees, maybe Tampa??

    ongais.jpg
Not sure on this, maybe Danny Ongais in the Honda of Wilmington car?

This looks like the first Masters and Richter Fuller car with Bob Haines driving, somewhere in the Northwest...

    se-1-1-640x393.jpg
Steinegger and Eshenbaugh ran many types of engines, including a Buick and this blown MoPar wedge, that later barfed its innards on the starting line...so they went to a blown hemi:

    se-14.jpg

This is the next car, crashed at San Gabriel when one of the headers melted off in the lights and blew the rear slick...I remember the slow but violent roll ... forgot who was driving, but he got out ok, definitely did not want to get in the ambulance, big fight with the ambulance crew....this car replaced with a Fuller car and later a Stuckey car

    scan0008-7.jpg
Originally the Waters and Murray car from California, went to Texas, and got a blown Chrysler in place of the stroker Chevy that Waters & Murray ran

    sl-mickeyatsanfernando.jpg
Mickey Thompson at San Fernando, with the full body replacing what was a really crude body made partly from the leading edge of a Navy Corsair fighter plane....

Mike, That shot is "The Northwind", circa 1964, the lettering on the nose section is, Bouthiller Motors, a car lot in Portland. Mac Bowman was connected to them, as well as being partnered with Jim Albrich and Earl Floyd in the Dragster.

I don't think that is the '63 Nationals - the spectator stands at Indy were much bigger

Thanks, Marty, figured that you would know, I think I remember it now, light blue, made the semi-finals at the Smoker's meet in '64, lost the semi when the clutch slipped and pushed the car over the starting line...think they lost to McEwen, who lost to Malone in the final? Damn, that was a long time ago, memories fade.........

Too long for the On the Gas/Honda of Wilmington car (which did not have a front wing either). The later red/white/blue Cox backed car had a tail and when it ran a wing it was mounted above the motor so it is not that one either. Also Danny's helmet was silver in the longer car era.

Hi Dave, It is at INDY 1963. Here is another one from that same year. Check the flag pole. It is down the track a ways. Also, the only time the "Filthy Forty" had 106 on it for a competition number was at INDY. It was always 456 the rest of the time.

Here is another one from the same event. INDY 1963. Pork Zartman in the Filthy Forty defeated Larry Teter from Illinois in the Vicky in this round of C/Gas eliminations. He went on to win the C/Gas Class Championship by defeating Al Tschida from Minnesota in the class final.

Another Filthy Forty at INDY 1963. Not in motion but here is what happens after you defeat a field of 40-50 cars for the C/Gas Class Championship. ABC Wide World of Sports want to talk to you.

The '56 was August "Hands" Hartkopf, one of Texas best gasser racers.

I missed this one, was there for the next 5....this was an effort by the Smokers to take advantage of the publicity that Garlits got, especially after he turned 176 in Florida in November 57 and, later, a reported 180 at Dunkirk, NY. Most West Coast guys did not believe the numbers, so invited Garlits, along with Bobby Langley, to come to the west coast for three meets, Bakersfield, Kingdon, and Chandler, AZ. Garlits blew his unblown motor at Bakersfield, but went to Isky's, mounted a blower and won at both Kingdon and Chandler. The crowd at this first meet overwhelmed the promoters, and ultimately the spectators just pushed down the fences and got in free.

They are Rader Wheels, three spokes. Rader sponsored at least one fueler, the Smyser & Haas car. Don't know what happened to the company, but the wheels did not catch on...
