This Vette above is the 1958 Corvette World Champion (at Tulsa in 1966) owned by Deloy Naeb called the Pooch. Ran a stack injected 283 that sold on ebay in 2009 I believe and has since been restored.
Larry ran this car from 1968 to 1970. driving it himself, before switching to Top Fuel. SPE Chassis, Tom Hanna full body, ran pretty well too. He ran Division 7 WCS points meets, and NHRA National events. I saw it at the '68 World Finals in Tulsa.
I believe I shot these the same day.
Thank you for the great information I was 2 yrs old when that was going that is why don't remember the dragster and Tulsa was a place my dad would race sometimes I will have to tell my mom that because she couldn't remember where in Arizona they went to race sometimes . My dad probably helped Larry build the dragster
Tom what drag strip did you take these pictures at ?
I believe Tom would say "Lions"
Ken Scott - a little bit of Eddie Hill and like the Greek, two side by side Hemi's .
Yes El Lay, that was Lions with GBP and Chiz. I happened to be there racing that day with my Willys in C/Gas.
Remember the year ?
Late '65, or early '66
The Greer. Black and Prudhomme fueler was retired in late 1964.
The "Greer, Black and Prudhomme" rail was featured on the cover of "Hot Rod Magazine" in the November of 1962 issue. This issue was a milestone for the magazine as this was the first issue that had color photos inside the magazine.
The GBP car was so gorgeous that it was one of the few color photos inside as well as on the cover.
If I remember correctly, Ken Scott was from Selma, AL, ran a hot rod shop there...later went to an inline twin?
Interesting that Tom's photo is dated APR 66. It's pretty well documented that they broke up G-B-P at the end of 64. This photo was said to be '64 and looks like moments after Tom's photo
Tom must have waited 2 years to print those pics
if Tom took that negative to the drug store today guess what year it would say on the print
That was my point! He must have waited two years (or reprinted them)
The place Cathy goes now does not print a date
