There were two different Ford truck hood scoops. The first was used on 53-56 bigger Ford trucks known as the "Big Job" truck. That scoop went on a hood that had a raised ridge down the middle.

The one that became popular on racecars (including the super duty Pontiacs) were first used on the larger 1957 Ford trucks which was redesigned with a flat hood. The larger F-series trucks were called Super Duty and had an emblem identifying them by that name. These scoops were used on the Super Duty Ford trucks from 1957 through the late 60's and were functional using a dash mounted cable to open and close a flapper mounted in a raised box on the air cleaner.

Yep, what he said. '53-6 were mounted in the center of the hood facing forward. '57 and up were mounted on the right side of the hood facing backwards.

Is this the same body that became the convertible Dart that is in the Garlits museum?

Pretty sure that this is Woody Gilmore's house car, the "Charger" at Lions

Don't have an ID on this one...

    JoeS-42-ThresherSpecial.jpg
The "Thresher Special," from Kansas...this was originally the Cook & Bedwell car that set a world's record in 57, only to have it broken by Garlits...now running a flathead

Mr Flathead, John Bradley, at the first Smoker's meet, '59

    No ID on either

    OCIR.jpg
OCIR...looks like a top gas car against an injected fueler...hermanpullersgarage suggested Enriquez & Adams near side, against Bill Schultz gas car...I don't remember E&A being that long, but it certainly could be...blew up the picture and the side body panel says "Schultz" so that is Bill Schultz...thanks for the ID...see below also

No ID, looks like a Ford, anyone else?? This was when AHRA sanctioned Lion's...hermanpullersgarage suggested maybe Gary Cochran without the roadster body...could certainly be, not many racers ran wedge Fords...appreciate the IDs on both

That photo is from 1971. The stance is a a dead giveaway that it is a later photo.

This one could be Ed Prouty out of Bristol Connecticut. Sure looks like it.

Nope, this is one of two mid engine Darts, both of which crashed very early in their careers, prompting the creation of the dragster framed roadster.
