In 1970, I was 16 years old, there was a guy down the street that drag raced a 56 Chevy 2 dr. sedan with a small block, IIRC it ran in modified production, had a cool old (?55-57?) Pontiac powered GMC ramp hauler. I remember going to either Woodburn dragstrip or PIR with him once.
His name was Gene Boshart (? Sp.) and I definately do remember the name of the car, because it was some years later when someone a few years older than me would explain to me what it meant.
The name of the car was "Hard Cum'n".
    Anybody remember it.

Ed Hildebrant's Chevy coupe was a great looking drag car and always a crowd favorite.

From George Klass...Dave Marquez Ardun powered roadster, Ventura Motor Monarchs. Made cover of HRM, incredibly finished, Dave sold it to someone in TN, then it may have gone to AL, would be incredible to find it!

No ID...Maybe from Connecticut, thanks, nickthebandit. (and more: Brazee Bros from Watertown CT, thanks to 1934coupe!)

Joe Winters, not sure if this has been posted here...Joe lost a leg to cancer, but got back to driving with an artificial leg...raced funny cars also. (not entirely sure if Joe is driving in this shot, might be Harry Payne?)

This might be Tom Dyer in Jarvis Earl's Buick powered car, before the body...or possibly Larry Steinegger?

Fontana, no sure ID on either, maybe Herb Ries in the near lane?

Portland, no ID, Oregon guys?? Looks like a SOHC Ford in the far lane? The "Cammer" powered B/D was Jim Livingston and Dan Almondson, Jim bought the chassis from Ernie Hall, after Ernie built a new AA/D. The Cammer was built by one of the top SOHC engine builders, Larry Kalsch. Thanks to Marty Strode for the information!

Garlits-Malone, 1960...don't remember the Swamp Rat with a red scoop

    3848246.jpg
Also from George Klass...Jeep Hampshire in the Herbert F-85 car after they added blowers...loved San Gabriel, well run, good food, fair management, and adequate shut-down.

    9738087.jpg
Another from George: George Hutchinson in Don Green's Rat Trap...Don was getting ready to cut it up because no driver could get it to go straight, until George, who could get even the most evil handing car to behave.

    duwayneengness.jpg
DuWayne Engress, from Fargo ND. .. this car was the only funny car from ND, remember it running Denver International..

Does it say "Bernadini Brothers" on the door? This is a really old shot, could be Santa Ana or Paradise Mesa??

Check out the distorsion on the Front Tires.....
Some one a little older than me could confirm these were not "Speed Rated" Tires, probably Nylon Small Motorcycle Tires designed to go 50 MPH
