  1. Great stuff guys!!!

  2. Oh Sam, you don't know how your roadster brings a tear to my eyes! Other than the cage, it's pure 1962. To see a pair of roadsters like that on the line one more time would let me leave this earth a very happy man.

    Dick,
probably the closest thing to your car currently running is Quain Stott's Willys.

Although it is a glass body it was built to run in his Southern Gasser series and as such has no visible parts that date from after the mid 60's. At the Meltdown Drags at Byron this summer he told me that he had downsized the motor to a 331 so that it would rev higher. He was leaving at 9500 and shifting at the same, picking the front end up at each shift.

Most of the dragster and altered guys claimed that we just watched the dragsters and altered...we pretended not to like the self-start cars....but that was really BS...we LOVED to watch the gassers and street roadsters...we might have been tuning (or pretending that we were tuning)...but when the gassers and street roadsters ran, we always found time to put down the tools and watch them...At the starting line, but especially at the top end...there was nothing like the sight and sound of an early Willys pulling through the traps at San Gabriel or Lions or Fontana....so thanks, dmorago, for the memories!!

As stated, supercharged gasoline has a sound all it's own. Time to go to the fence!

It's hard to believe that our old buddy Willford owned both of these cars! RIP, Tom. Thanks to Jeff Cryan for keeping the truck alive today. Great shot, Marty. I can hear it!

Now this is really "thinking outside the box".
Who needs chrome, polish, and paint with mechanical art like this.
    Very cool.
