    Yes, I have read this story of Fuller's on another website; he's a good storyteller and it all sounds very believable to me.

    In '64, Rod had a subsequent car in a show next to my booth (we were both from Kansas City) and we talked quite a lot that weekend. So he said that the GBP car was the one he was burned in. I assumed that to mean that it was a car he built. Who knows? as I said, tend to believe Fuller, although I never met the man.

    I did find it interesting that collector Bruce Meyer, first and foremost an historian and who owns the restored GBP car, stated in a Hot Rod magazine article a few years back, that the GBP was a Stuckey car. I would love to talk to him and learn upon what he bases that! To be honest, I never gave Rod's claims much creedence 'til I read Bruce's account.

    I was working the races at MoKan at about that time; they stopped the racing long enough for Rod to land his plane on the strip one Sunday. Always thought that was kinda cool!

    Thanks Jer for the NW pics. We spent many weekends out there at SIR watching all of those cars. Great times for sure.
