I am interested in a car, my big issue is the doors were filled, so no side windows.
The car is 10k, if is is possible to get side windows put on via new doors needed, what would be a ballpark number for that.
Just want to see if it would cost more than the car to get done.

  2. I'm no help but what kind of car? It would be a vast range between replacing doors on a true hartop with no frames or chopping doors to fit the car or even more work/cost to have windows fitted if the window frames were eliminated.

  8. @Moriarity I think he's talking about the window slots being filled over.... like was done on the Fancy Pants Riv. It had no side windows.

  9. Are the upper door window frames still there? Or was it "hardtopped" when it was chopped?

  12. It's been hardtopped. The door window frames were eliminated as well as the B-pillar. I'm not saying it can't be done but it would be some work to put windows back on it.
One option would be have channels made and put glass back in the existing doors and slide in quarter windows, Matranga Mercury style.

Assuming it's this one on Craig's list?

Unless the window regulators are still in the door, and you can get the window frames and missing b-piller parts from the owner still, or can source them from somewhere else, that's going to be super difficult to do.

wow. that car looks like ass. why would someone do that?
assuming you had a door and a roof from a donor car you are probably looking at 100 hours of labor plus paint.

Looks like rear end could go back a couple of inches.

You need the door tops and side window pieces, and keep it a hardtop, but the right way. Door tops get welded into the roof. That's one solution.
I was thinking High School Confidential from your first post.

Save your money. Even without the body being screwed up, very few 47 Plymouths will ever be worth North of $10K. Especially as time marches on.

In my opinion ,if this is the car above and you want windows (should have windows anyway) I think you need to walk away unfortunately. Way more work and bother than its worth to fit working windows .

This 41 de Soto is for sale on here now, I know it a major project but a rare and cool car plus its pre 48. You can see what you are getting. Even the floors might be decent as it still has glass. Someone needs to take up the challenge.

I looked at the CL ad, that really looked like a thrown together piece of junk. you saved yourself a lot of heartache by not buying it

Trust me when I say this...usually filled in glass is the sign that a bad chop took place and the builder realized it and knew the windows wouldn’t work right. Unlike you, I bought the POS I was looking at ‍♂️
