doing roll and pleated seats

    has anyone attempted to do there own seats in an roll and pleated style. if so how did you do it. edges and fitting material together etc. also any photo shots

    Go to the group like was said.

    You can buy the material already pleated, but they are heat seams, not stitched.

    I did sew my own. You start with the special foam, called sewfoam, which is foam with cloth glued to the back side.

    You need that cloth for 2 reasons; one is so the threads won't cut/ and pull right through the foam, and also the cloth backing helps the gripper pull the material through while sewing.

    The thicker the foam, the better the machine needs to be. Think of it as like trying to sew through a pillow. The "foot" of the machine needs to climb up over, and not dig into the vinyl.

    Unpleated Vinyl can be bought at Jo-ann's stores. Ask for marine vinyl. They do not have sewfoam. They do have 1/2" and thicker foam, but you'd need to spray glue some cloth to it, to make sewfoam.
