some times in doing my own work with too many options in my head i start to get lost and not like any of the work i have done . I need some thoughts on what i have done so far
it's a 1931 model a pickup chopped 4.5" sectioned 2" channeled 3" cab streched 4" suicide flush fit doors 1957 ford dash . im not sure if i want to keep the fire wall i made. i am not that fond of it but i refuse to use a flat one with a dimple for the magneto. or one of those store bought gerneric recesed ones that has no chance of fitting with out cutting it up to ribbons help me out with your thoughts

My two cents... I like the firewall and I think you will too once it is smoothed up and painted, or at least primed so it blends with the rest of the car. Oh, and YOU BUILT IT!

Not bad at all, I kinda like the coffin shape in the firewall. The cab stretch and lights look good too.

Is the smoke in the cab stretch picture coming from the exhaust or your bong?

I think the firewall is going to look fine. You might want to put the valve covers back on before you start welding/grinding/bondo-ing to keep crap out of there.

Also, I think you may want a different exhaust. Those kind of look t-bucketish.

the exhaust was a freebee from a friends t bucket i re did for him im thinking of cutting it up and using the big radius bend to make some style of low lakester headers that will follow the bottom of the body but again i cant decide

not sure what to do with it. thats why there is no mention of it. but i have to say i am thinking about it for the fact that i can run the bed lower on the frame and have the full size bed with plenty of travel. i would hate to build a pickup with a bed that can not be used for more then a moon tank holder and a place to put the battery and a six pack. i need room for a keg (full of beer) and the junk i buy at the swap meet

I like it so far. A lot of hard work in it. I too think the firewall will look good once it's finished off. But when it's your own work it can be kinda hard to get a good perspective.

You may be right. The headlights might be a bit big. But I would wait on that decision until you have more of the structure finished off and can see the proportions better.

Local 4X4 club help you build that front suspension?
Just kidding, looks like you used a Jag rear in the front! [IMG]
From the pics it's hard to see what you have going on up there. The firewall is fine. Any issues with the valve covers whn the engine rocks? It looks close on the corners. I'd make a set of headers for it and run the pipes closer to the body. Sell the ones you have to someone building a T bucket. Put plugs on the light wires so you can swap them out with a different style when your mood changes. How does the car fit you? Could you do some miles in it or will you have a crooked neck after 10 minutes. That's priority #1. You won't drive it if it isn't comfortable no matter how cool it looks.

That's going to be cool when you get it on the road. I think I know why you don't like the firewall. The left side does not match the right side. If the pass was the same as the driver's side, it would look better I think. As for your headlights, they need to be mounted so they hang straight. Right now it looks like you are using the mounts as they came off the donor car and they are angling the lights outword, which does not look right at all. I think the size will be ok, and they will look better visually with the deuce grill... they just have to be straight. I really like the bottom frame/cab and the extended doors. I have to agree on the seats... high backs gotta go.

EDIT:, I looked at the firewall again, and maybe it's just the pic that makes it look uneven. What exactly don't you like about it?

I had the same questions as everyone else -- what the heck is all the metal up front, but you answered the question. You need to roll that puppy out into the clear to get some real photos so we can actually see it (without Jag rearends blocking the view)!

Just pick a theme and stick to it and you'll be fine.

as a few of you may know,I know this guy pretty well.As much as Im always harping on period correct hardware blah, blah blah ,The thing about this guy is that he aint in it for the costume party or the little kulture scene. All he gives a shit about is CUTTING,WELDING,CUTTING SOME MORE AND ARROW STRAIGHT BODYWORK.Then he proceeds to beat the everloing shit out of em when they are done. This guy is form following function which is why he will probably never completely subscribe to any particular theme when building anything. I know that he plans on abusing this car so bad that he even installed power wiper to beat it in the rain

Off to a damn good start...doesn't look like a generic "rat rod" or anything stupid.

It's got enough owner built "cool" to stand out from the slap together junk getting so popular now.

Just keep at it and do what YOU dig...it'll be a sweet streeter when you're done!
