Belongs to a friend, Looking for info on this one....came off a mountain near Ashville, nc.... Anyone recognize this?
He has had it for a while, you can almost make out lettering on the quarters, but the lettering rusted ahead of the paint......
Seem to remember a truck like that at Englishtown, in the early 70's. Didn't run that day but was driving around....who knows what will turn up.
A very careful CLR job on those side panels might reveal the lettering underneath. I'd love to hear the back story on this truck as well, might be a real piece of history.
Ok, not gonna be a lotta help but.... I saw a short clip on youtube the other day that had the driver of the Hemi UnderGlass Cuda talking and showed Him driving the last run of the Cuda in the 90's? It also showed him jumping into the bed of a D100 that ran backwards wheel stands, and it showed him holding on for dear life and just about falling out wheel the wheelstander hit the ground. This may have been the truck he was riding in. he went on to say that it was a meet where there were like 8-9 vehicles there that day doing exibition runs, late 60s i think. Do a little research on youtube under Hemiunderglass and you should find it. I going out on a limb to say his name was Bill Riddle? Hope this helps.
There is a good article on the wheelstanders here: http://www.truckinweb.com/features/0405tr_drag_racing_trucks/viewall.html
Im pretty sure NHRA rules were the wheelstander had no glass or windshield. Every old pictures of wheelstanders didnt have glass. Mavreick did show me some pictures of his first truck. It did have glass, but then it was also when they were still developing and testing.
