Uhhh, good point. I installed mine with a toggle switch in case the "coppers" disapprove. Lights? What lights, officer?

From what I can see, that's a really nice truck. Looks like you post something about once a year ( ! ) So, Man of Few Words, how about more pics of your truck?

just imagine how many people got in a better mood when they see you driving..

Nice to see that effort, and see somebody not afraid to stick some tape on their hotrod for smiles.

The LED headlights were a pain, but waaaay brighter than the halogens they replaced. I used Bob Drake glass lenses, (clear in the center- no flutes), Drake stainless rims with stock 1940 buckets. The problem is not the light diameter of 7", it is the depth. LEDs have deep aluminum cooling fins on back. The plug is huge so I cut the bucket hole bigger to fit it through. AND the LEDs need a huge anti-flicker adapter plugged in line with the wiring.
I used the usual stainless headlight retainer bezels (with 3 tabs for screws) but installed them backwards. With the thick '38 lenses, the lightbulb can easily hit the glass. No room for adjusting screws. So I just glued the stainless rim to the light from the back and screwed it directly to the '40 bucket. I shim the 3 tabs for adjustability.
These lights will vaporize people in front of you. But, how do you also have turning indicator blinkers? I simply ran those wires to the 55 watt halogen fog lights. (In the South, they are called Frog Lights, for froggin') The art deco lights are on Ebay - supposed to be Harley Davidson fog lights. Turn signals installed too close to the headlights cannot be seen at night.
"Man of few words?" Yeah, right.

The lights make the people light up. The truck just about emptied out a store last night. I use 303 Protectant on the paint, so the masking tape barely sticks to it. Over 40mph it starts peeling off. Maybe I will use JBWeld next year.

Thanks for the headlight info, but morally I could never own a vehicle that has them. I have no desire to be "That Guy" driving behind me, I always pull over and let them blind someone else. Bob

Sorry, I was a bit unclear. Once I tweak the aiming of the headlights, they will work great, like the new cars, with a light pattern that is low to the ground. The lights will not be glaring to oncoming cars and the light is white, not annoying blue.
But for greater safety in my old cars, I wire my hot rods with a microswitch so that I can flash the high beams instead of honking. It is way safer and more considerate.

That is why the Lord invented LEDs, bro. And you won't burn up when you get a fuel leak.

There's way too many of those felt antlers clipped on the rain gutters.
Those are way past getting smiles or nudges anymore.
