WOW!!!! The cherry has been popped on the sedan. When Iwent to bed last night I was pretty discouraged after our markings and alignments just were coming out like we wanted. We slep on it, read some HAmb material, looked at some magazines, Talked to Colin Casey about how he does it, talked to Tim at Irrational Metalworks, which all helped tremendously, but it took a a idea from a old sheetrocker to make it all come together and makes some sense in the back areas. Anyhow we had this chopp planned for last night, as some of you may know Colin Casey (hot-rod-artist) here on the Hamb broke a axle about a hour from my shop and had to bail to work on his car for Goodguys the next day. My wife had went out of town and I had a buddy lined up to help with the kiddos as we were gonna chopp it. As plans changed we had to stay focused so in doing that I got the kids down by 9:00 pm took the monitors out to the shop and the process was began. Fast forward to tonight and we did the same thing. We got this baby down and here is how it sits now. We got lots to do now but this is good enough to sleep on and head to Goodguys in the morning. A-Pillars will get leaned back. We took 5" inches out of the back and 5 1/2" out of the front. Gonna section the rear area 1" and only chopp the rear window 4". Heres some pics,
I will, I really got more done than planned, I have to get some chassis done for customers before I can jump rite on it but atleast I could take a break and work on my own for a change again.
Very nice planning, and a great result. I really like the profile, and the head-on. Can't wait to see the booty shot! UNCLEE!!!!!!!!! Maybe you can tell me why they call 'em flatheads when you can't set your beer on it?
Looks great! Like the Rolling Bones/Varni sedan. Pls tell us about how the A- and B-pillars realigned with the slight angle chop. -Did you have to make relief cuts at the tops and bottoms of the pillars to get them to realign? -Did you sleeve them? -Will the windshield still seal across the bottom of the windshield opening? Thanks!
Looks real nice to me ,especially since that was the first one you whacked. The first cut is the hardest after that its just fixing metal .Great job Rusty ,your making me jealus ,but if it was me i woulda ...just kidding you nailed it remindes me of the " Orange Crate " .I think some of these early cars get chopped a bit to much in my opinion, but you nailed that right on.I am more partial to T, A and B tudors than coupes anyway .Proportions on your chop look awesome...
Thanks so much everyone, The a-pillars will get realigned tom make it work and look more racey. Any how I got to head out I will post pics of how the a-pillars look now and how I think they will get massaged to look rite, I got alot of work to do to make it all rite for a finish. The long road has just started but I feel the hump has been corssed on being scared to cut a Duece up. Once again, this was the first chopp for me so thanks alot for all the positive criticism Rusty
WOW...killer job and looks perfect not to pancaked and not too much left. Glad you finally got time to work on your own stuff and i can't wait to see more progress pics
Dude - you missed dinner got THIS! Can't blame ya, a bit. Looks killer. Poppin' a cherry IS messy, ain't it. I too, am glad your workin' on your own stuff, now. Can't wait to see it. Later. -
AWesome look. I hope to have one of these cars in my future. What are you plans for this one as far as the engine and suspension goes? I can't wait to see more progress.
