Sorry about the off-track stuff. :(

Rhonda, thank you SO MUCH for the link! These pictures are not only my favorites, but answer a LOT of questions - without words!

I don't believe there's ANY pictures like these ANYWHERE online - thank you SO MUCH for sharing!!!! :)

Nice job on the firewall, by the way!

    You may try this:
    http://www.gmupfitter.com/publicat/pdf/LD/LD_ST_Truck/LD_ST_Truck_pgs.pdf

It looks like a cheat sheet for folks that build purpose-built trucks on top of GM truck chassis... and it's got lots of pretty pictures with measurements!

Scroll down to page 51 of the .PDF linked to above and smile. :D

Anybody have any ideas where to mount the battery for these trucks?
I was thinking of making some sort of drop down box that mounts to the side of the frame under the passenger side.
In addition, I was also thinking of installing a stratigically located jumping point, but again am not sure where to put it either. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

My 47 Ford has an S-10 clip from just under the fire wall forward. Lined up perfect.

I was just gonna say - you could go all V-Dub OEM style, and put it under the seat! Of course, in the V-Dub it's under the rear seat, the bottom of which folds forward, hinged under where the passenger's knees would go. :)

Not a bad place... there, or behind the seat, maybe combined with a drop-down box...

  14. Not sure if I responded to this thread already, but here's a couple pics of mine. I back-halfed the frame with 2x4 box tubing, bc it had to be shortened about 6 inches, but overall, the swap was easy. I would rate it about a 2.

In my experience the s10 frame doesn't fit the 55-59's very well. A little narrow for them. You can do all kinds of fun stuff like play with a-arms and wheel offset. But for the amount of work there are easier and cheaper ways to go.

  19. I see where a guy used a S-10 frame under a VW Bug and it actually fit under the front without looking to wide. I was thinking of maybe doing the same with a 64 bus but the steering may cause a problem. I know my t-bucket and the bus have the exact track width but was thinking the S-10 may be easier.

Hope you guys projects are going good.
Adding a few more pics of mine, channeled the body 2 inches and fenders clear uca.... the steering shaft angle will be easy to line up to column.

If any of you guys have used an extended cab chassis with the carrier bearing d-shaft and a th400, was it possible to shorten the first part of the shaft? or find a shaft from a donor vehicle that would swap? or is it a get a custom one made type thing? If you know about this PM me, THANKS!!!
