Event Coverage Decatur, TX Swap Meet Feb. 21-23, 2014

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Hunter73, Feb 16, 2014.

  1. Who all is going to the Wise County Antique Auto Club swap meet Feb. 21-23 this year? It typically has over 3,000 vendor spaces occupied. I've been going and selling for the past several years. I will be there again having a great time as usual. The weather forecast is looking good as of today.

The last couple of swap meets they had their sucked. Over half of the meet was empty. Being that it's only the second swap meet this year it'll prob have a good turn out tho.

  6. Not the February meet. You must be thinking of the one there in September.

The September meet in Decatur is the old one from Texas Ranger stadium. It's only been in Decatur a few years, and is growing each year.

Oh yea.. I forgot the arlington swap meet moved up to decatur. My bad.

Haha Decatur swap meet has always been wild when it comes to weather. Talk to anyone and they'll tell you that. One lady told me she nicknamed it "Dirty Decatur". Hell, one time a gigantic sand storm blew in
Its still a good meet though, been going for years myself. Looks like we're in for some nice weather.

  11. Remember all the years - it took longer to drive there from Dallas - then it took to walk it !

Never set up there but couldn't wait until mid-Feb to walk it - always good finds and good people.

Hope to get a service call out there Thurs or Friday....one of our customers is right down the street....

We've been going to Decatur for decades. The February Meet is the best of the year for many folks. Lots of "new" stuff shows up here every year and there are bargains to be had. Two years ago got a pretty decent T bucket frame and new never-used body for $450. Last year got a really nice set of 50s Dodge painted wire wheels for $350. And lots of small stuff too.
They moved us over one space last year (?) and this year across the aisle (WTF?), we'll have to remedy that when we get there on Thursday morning.

Was out there today. Packed full of cars and bargains. Gonna be a good show tomorrow with 70 degrees in the forecast. Decent prices on cars.

I agree. Saw lots of action today already. I unloaded some intakes, carbs, a tranny, bellhousing, insulation, and a 1996 Roadmaster wagon.

  30. I had a good time as usual. However, it was the worst money maker for me that I can remember. But, you can't put a price on fun right? Did anybody take any cool/interesting pictures? I never thought about it unfortunately.
