  1. I like the changes, sounds like your just making a beater for the Hamb drags.
That'll be fun to beat on.

Good catch and love what you're doing with it!

  3. Great retrofication!
Got to scratch your head on that engine setback by the PO.
Looks good with the fenders and boards.
More updates as they happen, please.

Engine setback looks to be to get weight toward the center of the car.
Lots of 'older' builders overreacted to the weight of automatic transmissions in early cars, especially Fords.
More than once I heard the old adage: "Get the weight off that old front axle!" ...like the Henry axle wouldn't support it...

  5. Part of the street rodder mindset where if it's the latest and greatest idea at the time, use it. Screw tradition and what has worked thousands of times. Sort of like what was in the "trends that don't follow the build" thread.
Glad that you came to the rescue!

Got the back down a few inches and got a quick pic. In my mind, the front is down a bit more but the reality of that is it ain't gonna happen with a fendered daily driver. I can live with it. I think.

Whoever did the chop did an OK job, but deleted the upper door hinge, which made the door sag like a '79 Camaro.

Used some 2 inch plate, some spacers and long 5/16 bolts.

Done deal. The trick is to make the hinge bolt stay stuck to the outer hinge and turn inside the inner.

    See ya, -Abone.

    Some random stuff...

The doors are '33, which was driving me batty.

    Now, they are '34.

Here is the rear mostly cleaned up. There is still some major metal work and a skim coat of love to be done, but I can at least walk by it now without shaking my head.

    See ya next time.

  14. You've done well pilgrim.

  15. Maybe just a slightly shorter front tire? Just a 1/2" reduction in sidewall would help.

I'm doing the same thing up here, only they went even farther with hidden hinges , mustang 2 and all that crap. A-bone, I wished you had bought this car and started this thread 4 years ago. Great job and your car sits right to me. One question, what's going on for a gas tank with the filler hole in the middle?

Or a 1" shorter tire and another half-inch drop in axle. :D I am with you flamedabone. The stance is either right, or it's wrong. If it's a car to flip I probably wouldn't mess with it. But if it's a keeper I'd get it a little lower. You're making great progress...

nothing you've done so far is been to my diss taste. but I would've just gone with what you had to begin with because I'm cheap.

  29. Looking good! I've been thinking for a while some abandoned 90's projects might be a good start on a project.
