I have been porting heads for a while as needed by a few customers and friends. The latest heads need quite a bit of cast iron removed and I would like to speed up the process if I could. I have been using double cut carbide ovals and flame shaped 6" cutters with pretty good results.

I now see some of the venders are sell 55 degree spiral ( Drag Cut ) carbide cutters. Has anyone any experience using these?

Do you have a dealer thats better then the others? Most of what I see are about the same price, in the $25-$35 range for extended length. The Drag cuts are twice that and the aggressive cuts are three times the price.

Just looking for feed back before purchasing.

    from Wa.

The ports I do sometimes have to have a 1/4 inch off of some areas.
A 1/2 horse electric grinder with double cut burrs saves a lot of time.
I use pneumatic die grinders for finishing.
Porting and root canals are about the same misery levels.
