I was wondering my local pick-a-part yard looking for doodads when I found this. Sure looks like a 49 or a 50 chevy, it's got the single large round gauge cluster like mine. I've got a few questions about these chevys in general. When did the one piece windshield come out? This sure looked stock. I'm going back for the windshield trim and maybe the vent window deflectors. The gauge cluster and clock have blue faces, was this an option? What do you think the tail lights are out of? I wonder what the grill opening was made to fit. Not my cup of tea...
the one piece windshield is out of a 50 or so Oldsmobile. blue faces were not an option on the clock and gauges
looks like a custom built grille opening and would guess the T/L lenses are some 50ish Mopar? what rearend if any under it?
Thanks for sharing your wisdom guys. The rear was a open ds, with a drop out 3rd, but not a ford 9". besides that, it's beond what I know. The rest of the car is pritty rough, someone got friskey with a torch and cut the tunnel and behind the seat out to lower it, but never finished.
You could flip those fenders with the frenched lights pretty easy, even if you had to take a hacksaw down the middle of that surround to get them off the car and out of the yard. Around here a u-pick fender is like $40-$50, I'd think you could get $100 a shot out of those without too much trouble. For that matter, if you can bring in a sawzall, cutting the rear 12" or so off the body with the trunk lid lip and a few inches of trunk floor - that's also highly sellable. May even be able to be shipped like FedEx instead of Greyhound depending on how big it's cut. Oh, and if it's a Fleetline, I could use the left vent window.
Sorry,it's a styleline Meh, I still have a spare trunk. It's in andersons east side of Greeley co Happy hunting! Sent from my iPod touch using TJJ
Windshield & tail lights are both '50 Olds 88 ... gravel pan in rear is '51-'52, note primed spots where '49-'50 license lights were filled. Can't tell if it's a coupe or a 2 door - if it's a coupe, the deck lid & backlight are both scarce.
I would probably try and save that... or at the very least buy the whole front clip (i dig the grill opening and leaded frenched lights!), one peice bumper, coupe doors for someone who wants to convert a 4 door to a 2 door, quarters if theyre not too bad., the trunk if its there, back seat if it came with one... Nah, I think I would definitely just buy that. Even if just to make sure it went to a good home or got parted out to guys that needed it rather than getting scrapped.
With all the Olds parts that are on it, is it actually a customized Olds with the original upper grill molded in?
The grill opening on my 50 looks the same way, except the hood has been rounded. I have a 50 plymouth grill bar in there.
