    Alrighty.
I have said several times before. I AM NOT A PAINTER.

But since My door keeps getting knocked down to do it...we went ahead and made it happen.I hired 2 actual paint and body guys.

As of March 1st, Crushproof Paint and Body will be open and operational. for the time being, we will continue our effort in my assembly/fab Area. (we have a makeshift booth set up now, but will be installing "the real deal" in the new shop.) I know what you're thinking. Whoopty do... here's the important part.

We will be offering an alliance membership discount of 10% on labor.

on an average paint job, that saves you around 400 bucks. soon enough, we will be stocking paint and flakes, pearls, and the like. as soon as I get a handle on what that stuff will run us, I will offer alliance discounts on it,too.

all of the previous offers on labor for repair and mechanical still apply.

do the deed and join the alliance!

    thanks,
    Lux

  8. Damn, by my math that make the average paint job labor around $4,000... Holy Respirators, I am out of touch with the cost of painting!!!

Anyway, congrats on the expansion program and I hope it shakes out well for you. Post some pics of the first job to come out of the shop.

    hehehe...
The Galaxie is finally done-Fat Lucky did the interior, and doesn't want any photos until he's 100%, so all you get of it is a "spy" photo.
Buzzard and Angies was done before Round up before last,
and Jeepers car was done before PnP.
all of these cars were shot without a booth or regulated air conditions, so hopefully, with a couple of guys that actually paint for a living and a booth to keeps the mosquito population of our candies down, we will be able to do better than these real soon.

The Shop is Crushproof in Austin
    the Phone number is 512 386 9889.

i've seen paintjobs in garages that look better than paintjobs in booths...85% is bodywork and prep...lots of blocking or you see waves on shiny...

Steph showed me the interior pics...love fatlucky's work

Lux, congrats on the expansion. I saw that galaxie when it was in primer, and it looks great, nice work.

  17. Damn!! That '58 Chevy looks so good I didn't even notice it's a four door for a few moments. I love the gold roof and scallpops! That's right, I called 'em scallpops - they pop right off the car! Very saa-weeeet...

Just go out and price some good primer , basecoat and clear and your head will explode at the cost of just supplies.Home paint jobs are not cheap anymore much less having it done somewhere.

I hav'nt worked in a paint shop since 1982 but people always ask me what a good paint job would cost. I always tell them for a good job they could probably expect to see a 3 to 6K quote from a quality shop and more if there is lots of repair work.

That 58 does look good. I have seen it up close and that gold really pops.

dont forget to add paper, masking, tack cloth, sand paper, ....the list goes on and on...our average cost in materials for a complete from primer to finish is almost $2k for the stuff we use...when you use the cheap stuff, you need more material to cover your car most of the time too...I suppose that's why most of us are still in primer :)

That 58 is one of my favorite 4 doors and it so happens to be in the same town...

A GOOD paint job is A-LOT of work........... spraying the paint only takes a few hours (for one color)but the proper prep and blocking can take weeks followed by a couple days of buffing and quality labor aint cheap.

It would go faster if he used sandpaper!!!

Edit: The PAINT PROCESS would go faster if he used sandpaper!!! Bevin would still be slow.

Congrats on the booth and expansion. Booths are not cheap.
Let me know if you need another painter, I am tired of ice and snow up here in OK. :D
