Been thinking of doing something like this for some time. Have been wanting to build a scooter for quite some time and the idea of a 4 cylinder trike has been quite appealing for several reasons. But the crazy part comes in that for looks as much as performance would like to build it with two sidedraft carbs but here is where odd comes in. One carb per side, so it would take a cross flow head that has similar sized intake/exhaust valves. If you can picture a 4banger with sidedraft carbs poking out each side and a pair of pipes on each side working their way back to a single collector out back. country of origin doesn't matter to me so which 4banger out there would anyone recom mend.
Ford England ( and Germany ) used to sell a car with a V4 in it. ( The same engine was used in some Saabs and I believe a Matra Jet ) And there was an aftermarket Intake Manifold you could buy for it that had a Weber sticking to the Left and one the Right. But... It was a heavy, underpowered Engine that was prone to strip the fibre Camshaft gear.
ha ha you are nuts. so you reverse two of the cylinders flow direction, and have a custom cam ground?? is that it? hilarious.
Hey Zap...I was walking around BTT50's a year or 2 ago when I stumbled onto this crowd of people hovering around this model A with a four banger. It had carbs on BOTH side of the cylinder head! I think it had exahust only on one side but I can't remember for sure.... I had my video camera with me but no digi or 35 MM. I got some video and I'll try to get enough time to review it....see if I can see WTF. I know it was an early ford engine but don't remember if it was an A or a B....had 2 downdraft carbs on each side on aftermarket, aluminum manifolds....seems like they were 97's. I couldn't even get close to the owner with the crowd.
