coupe soft top?

So how is a soft top attached to my 33 Chevy coupe?? My project came with a makeshift unattached top that was poorly done. As I clean the old seaaler and bondo crap off, I notice a set of narrow notches all the way around the opening. I assume the replacements are leather or vinyl but I don't know how to attach and seal the darn things? Anyone done this??

 

I used a Juliani top on my 34 bowtie. It went on easy and was not bad priced.
