I agree it is awesome-car was a real mess to start with. At the show guys would walk by thinking it was stock and then would do a double take and walk back and look at it again. Looks like it came stock. Has aluminum heads as well so the weight will not be as much a factor like so many think. The owner got on it out in front of my house the other day and it has enough power to get your heart pumping a little faster-had me smiling.

Loudbang, the Hazguy comes up with some good stuff for sure. The black and white 61 Vette above is Sam Cunningham. I know he ran a small block Chevy but the induction setup under the scoop has me squinting a bit. Not sure as of yet what to make of it. Thought it was injected and this may be some way of him adding his own touches to be competitive. Cool picture though.

Good stuff. The Hayseed pic I would assume is prior to installation of the straight axle. I wonder how tall the frame spacers were to gain that amount of height. With that much air and God only knows how much caster, it must have been a fun ride at 11.81. Also the headers were by Doug?? possibly. Later on he went to headers by Tubular Automotive who made (and still make) great headers IMO-have a set on the avatar car and they made headers for the BBC conversion on the C1. Best sounding headers I have had.

Not sure how long he kept those ladder bars-would have to study old pics. Cool shot as well as the others. Always been a fan of Lombardo with Buckshot. He had that 283/270 down in the 12.30s in 68 I am pretty sure. He also ran with the Rochester injection in 69 but not sure if it was any better in speed and ET than the dual quad 270-would have to check the stats I suppose. Car is still around thankfully.

I agree Quick 85 it is great picture of a pretty cool car. I painted a fair number of Vettes back in the day with pearls and candies and always envisioned panel painting a similar Vette (at least a C1) with a mix of white pearl (base) with candy panels. Never got the chance yet but your picture envisions a bit (kind of in a way) of what I would have liked to have done.

Last candy I did back in the day was a green candy on a 61 Vette with a silly number of translucent coats, per the customer's wishes. Then he screwed up the passenger door and I had to repair it. Easier said then done-tough job with a large number of the old lacquer coats. My avatar car is PPG tri coat candy apple red and I have touched it up twice and is relatively easy with the tri coat system. I think that last repair with the candy green 61 made me reconsider some of the custom jobs I could have done I suppose.

Cool that you kept the picture.
