Boodlum, the video is a bit surprising in a way to me. I would not think too many techies would choose a 61 Vette. Like mixing Fred Flintstone with George Jetson. Still like it. Thanks for the posts. They help make the thread more interesting with your first hand accounts.

Jim, the video is an update of the opening scene of the 1981 Canadian animated adult sci-fi film "Heavy Metal". The entire movie is a cult icon with many parts. Watch it. It's GREAT!
Here's the original scene that uses a 1959 Corvette

Boodlum I was living in Flagstaff AZ going to NAU when that movie came out and saw it on the big screen. I thought it was great so I bought the DVD. I still watch it and still think it's great.

To me, this is the only time wires have looked good on a Corvette.

After of 40 years of playing with plastic cars, this may be the first time that I have seen painted
wires on an early Corvette. I kinda like it.

I may have to side with Roo on the wires as they sit. I suppose a true set of Ridge Whitworth knockoffs may change my mind but if I was to have painted wheels I may have to opt for stock wheels with the dog dish caps, like the big brake cars.

Are they painted? Whitewalls? No thanks. I stick by my statement.
The red '59 above has a vintage sports car look. They look natural
on the car, just like a Triumph TR-3 and an MGA.

By the wheels and tires looks like someone’s old forgotten Hot Rod Vette. Would love to find a specimen like that.

And it also appears to be a Fuel Injected split window.

I thought that the theme of this page was "hot rod" Corvettes, ie modified or factory special low volume cars, not bone stockers. For those who want to argue that all vettes are hot rods try driving the first gen posted above.

Roo I just don't "like" them. I do feel like we get OT.

Roo. after a few days searching I FOUND VIDEO OF THE 1959 CARROLL SHELBY/SERGIO SCAGLIETTI CORVETTE IN THE BASEMENT OF THE PETERSEN MUSEUM!
It's at 52:40. Wonder if it's the one I saw in Dallas fifty-eight years ago?

These days there is almost no traffic, so I drove my corvette to work.... and I agree, stock vettes are boring.....
