logic2 that 396/4-speed sittin in the corner wouldn't be something you would consider parting with would you?

  3. Some cars just look “right”. Your Vette is a great example IMHO. Well done.

Really nice 56/57. Would like to know the story on that car. Stack injected with I believe a roll bar with a good set of tires. Know anything about it?

I remember a few guys running the tear drop scoops and I have a friend that runs one today. I also have one on my parts shelf as I cannot seem to say no when I see a good deal-bought it as part of a package. Will never use it but it was cheap. The trouble with these cars is that there is a serious lack of clearance when you put on an intake manifold that is anything other than a low rise manifold. On my avatar car I have a big block and the carburetor hit the hood so I cut a hole. If I ran a scoop it would probably be an old super duty scoop.

The super duty hood scoop technically doesn’t solve the ford parts on a Chevy but since it has been blessed by Pontiac it makes it better! Lol I think it would actually pretty good!

Skip Hess' 1962 Wildabeast had my favorite scoop. Some may argue it is not a super duty scoop exactly, but I believe it is close enough and looks pretty good.

Like looking at these old pictures. If you look behind the push car you can see a white 58-60 Vette with what appears to be a hood scoop and I believe the car next to it is another solid axle Vette. With the scoop on that car I wonder if it is Dick Moroso?

The second and third cars behind the white 58-60 are solid axle Corvettes too!

It may be my imagination but there may be 3 solid axle cars behind the white one. I believe this picture to be the 1963 Indy Nats and in those days there would be around 40 solid axle cars alone at the Nationals (some years maybe 45 and maybe even 50 cars with late entries).

Blown up. the yellow lettering on the red door looks familiar but can't place it.

I actually like tear drop hoods on C1's. This picture does seem out of place to me with the hood not being painted body color. If you were to put a stock hood and stock hubcaps on this car, it would look like too many other lame stockers out there IMO
On the other hand, this red 60 with Cragars and a tear drop hood looks perfect to me. I am putting one on my wife's 60. Fitting and painting both hoods so I can have either.

In that pic it actually looks pretty decent but then I like the car overall anyways. I suppose I got used to seeing them on the big Fords. I recently sold my 61 Starliner and considered putting one on that car but other things got in the way. I would not have ruined the stock 61 Ford hood but would have gone with a fiberglass reproduction. Vetrod runs one on his black 62 but he runs the car and needed the extra room I suppose.

LB you have a point on the yellow war paint-will have to ponder that for a while.

I would have to say he is way above the 24" crank centerline height limit!

Maybe not. Even if those front tires are 26" in diameter the crank c/l would have to be quite a bit lower than that to get the motor under the hood.
