Great thread, I love the old corvette hot rodded racing Corvettes. Neat stuff, did it back in the day, still doing it. Some of us are still racing our old school 60s corvette street racers. Here are some pictures of our recent stuff. Be reminded all of our cars are real street cars, not race cars, just like back then, could have been our daily drivers. :D

  13. I'm thinking the owners of these fine examples, do not fit into the normally attached stigma (gold chainers, small penis, snobish crowd, etc)..just goes to show how ridiculous those attached stigma's are. Great pics, more please.

The Pizza Man is still around and I believe it is on loan to the Corvette museum. Earl Britt ran the inline six although he cooked a few of them. Here is a pic of a wounded six out of the car. Also 1967 at Indy was my first year there and I still think it was the best drag racing I ever witnessed. Kanners, and Giannino (possibly the red car and parts and pieces of the black car in the Midwest cars in post 24) and then Sam Cunningham in his 61 D/MSP as well as Britt all won class at Indy in 1967 and Kanners went on to win street eliminator. Pretty good runnning hot rods-all of them-got me hooked for life.

Vetrod good to see you post. Good to show that not all of us are NCRS guys and the furthest thing from gold chainers.-Jim

No wonder any surviving original early Corvette is worth so much money today. It looks like the majority were made into gassers or hot rods. But back in the day they were just cars like anything else.

Thanks on the roll bar. It surely wont pass tech but I like the look and I can still fit the hardtop on the car. I'm 6'1" so I am rockering the seats to fit under the bar, as these early Vettes are a bit stingy on headroom. I made it removable to make it easier to chrome (the top hoop and downbar has a sleeve that holds it all together) plus I had to make it so the little lady can still sit in the car without the downbar taking up too much leg room. Truth be told she wont make too many trips in the car anyways as she is not a big fan of noise and I'm afraid the car may be a tad noisy. I need a little fatter wallet this year and some time to finish it.-Jim

One from the sixties, Doug Juonis raced at Sanford, then at New England Dragway.
The car was flawless, not a mosquito footprint anywhere on it. Candy red paint if I remember.
