Doug, this guy is packing some serious cojones, stand his ground and get that frame, a true professional photo journalist...or he's drunk off his ass.

I was interviewing Willie one time and asked, "What's a good run for you?" Pretty quickly he responded, "One where I don't hit something." Looks like he is still on a good one above.
He then went on to talk about the front axles they ran, and how they were made out of muffler tubing which could be repaired at any muffler shop. Can't remember if I ever verified that with Marcellus or not.

Can I cheat a little and put a picture on the H.A.M.B and then add it to this thread? :D 13217127_1303542919661221_2455483023624245891_o.jpg

Thanks, it's a gem. This thread shows great shots from the HAMB and, hopefully, introduces people to threads they will love.

Especially the sign on the top of the building that say "please remain in your car" that is being ignored.
    Is that Portland, OR?

I just saw this thread for the first time, and scrolling through it I came on this picture; and believe it or not I pretty sure I know this girl, in fact I think we work for the same company. Of course it's been a few decades since this picture was taken, and she's 30 some years older now, but she is still just as pretty, though not with the body of an 18 year old any longer, of course. I won't mention any names, cause I wouldn't want this to somehow get back around and cause her any kind of embarrassment all these years later; she is a super nice person, just a sweet heart, and I would never want to hurt her.

Not that there's anything "wrong" with this picture of a healthy young American woman enjoying America's favorite motor sport. FYI, she has continued to work peripherally in drag racing all these years, and if you've been to any of the major races for the past few decades and watched the major teams, you've probably seen her. No more hints. I was just pleasantly surprised to see this picture and have this insight into her youth. I had no idea...

Her tee shirt is from Gary Dyers shop. Both businesses were located in Chicago back in the day.

  24. The new issue of Surfer mag showed up yesterday and this was in the inside back cover, Huntington Beach, 1961. Dig the Clay Smith cams jacket.

There was a time when all hot rodders were surfers and all surfers were hot rodders. huntington-beach-1961.jpg

Pre-Beatles and pre-British Invasion, Elvis was gettin' old and surf music was king. Across the street in that photo is the famous Golden Bear night club. A small club that hosted just about everybody who's anybody at some point before it closed down.
