these cars being gone from drag racing is the reason the grand stands are empty. they mite as well take the stands down. no two of these cars look alike!

  5. I live in a small town in upstate N.Y.
My dad remembers a comp coupe out of Hobart (Ho-Burt) N.Y., in the early to mid 60's.
It was some kind of sedan with a W engine 348 maybe a 409?
I am trying to track down some history.
I found out the man who owned the car still lives in Hobart.
    I will keep everyone posted.

I sure remember seeing Lonnie Butts and Frank Pedregon's Fiats at Lions when I was young. Always been Topolino fan, whether as an A/C or as an altered. A buddy of mine has a life-size B&W mural of Lonnie Butts' car on the wall of his bicycle shop in L.A. I could stand and stare at that mural for hours - can almost hear it.

This is the B/C from post #4, it was built and raced in '62-63 by Bob Duedall, from Albany Or. Fast forward 50 years and Bob is back in the seat, after Jim Lindsay found and restored it. the K-88 chassis was faithfully re-created by Ron Austin. I watched in run back then. Here is another B/C Bantam from my area, it belonged to Terry Mills, out of the "Speed Merchants" car club, clean, simple, and a good runner ! bant1 Terry Mills.jpg Terry Mills 2.jpg Terry Mills.jpg

Not only was this car at the Meltdown Drags as mentioned above but he also had it at Back To The 50's in St. Paul this past June. I have been around many loud engines and this one is right up there. Ear splitting when he cracks the throttle. Super cool!

    Mr. Palmer,
like Tony Martino said, I can't believe the threads you start then fill with photos, magazine articles, interviews- this thread is another home run, kiddo! I loved the "Little Honker" video.
Thanks for your dedication to keeping this stuff in the lime light.
( I think you have a friend in Jeff Norwell!)

  22. A few more-

A 56(?) Caddy and a Comp Coupe, what could be better?

I always thought these cars were way cooler than even the dragsters-I liked the Bantam bodied ones the best. Great thread.
