And this is why I have a brush painted truck. I hit the body not once but twice with the nut on the grinder while zipping the ends of the bolts on my box. If I had a $20,000 paint job I would freak. In this case I just sanded it and will slobber more paint on. With a smile on my face the whole time! IMG_0085.jpg

The 20 foot paint job for the win in this case. Sorry you hit, but glad the fix is so easy.

Because the shop wasn't dusty enough I decided to break out the table saw and finish up the wood on the back of the cab. IMG_0088.jpg

Wonder how much road/vibration noise that wood soaks up. Bet it’s noticeable

I am shocked how much oil can the wood takes out. I had modify how it fits to get the seat base back another 2" but it all clears now.

IMG_0112.jpg IMG_0114.jpg Put the rear glass in today. My daughter had to help me get the nuts and washers on the screws.

And I clocked all the screws at 45 degrees just for Wyatt! Mwahahahaha!

  16. usually carriage bolts are used with the heads on the out side and the nuts inside a countersunk hole.

That is correct, and I thought it looks dumb with painted over carriage bolts. I like the stainless acorns better. I used them on all the box bolts, suspension brackets, and they will be on the engine and a few other spots as well. Kinda 50's show car style.

IMG_0123.jpg Windshield and back window in! I need to get the lower tracks made and into the doors so I can get the sides cut. But I am getting pretty excited to see it looking more complete every day!

It's getting close. Needs wiring, fuel line hooked up, plug wires, gauges and some fooling with rad hoses. Easy stuff but it all takes time.

62951714438__D4455F73-B220-47B5-A343-80CA2F695C98.jpg Hacking and hammering at trans tunnel today. No solid plan going in, just winging it. I needs to fit tight, it has 3/16 clearance to the scattershield as a minimum.

It’s gotta hurt sacrificing any available space inside a PU cab even a 33-34. Hopefully that killer engine and trans make it all worth it. Certainly looks good.
We feel your pain and can’t wait to see this one finished Matt.

Thanks Wyatt. If I was 5'8" and 100 lbs everything would be easy. As it is I need every 1/4" of extra space. The tunnel is an odd shape to add extra foot rom so I can actually get a foot on the spoon gas pedal.

People were smaller then, at least the ones who designed the cars. If they had't all worn big hats we could never fit in these things.

IMG_0211.jpg Picking my way through the endless list of little shit that seems to take forever! Fitting e brake cables, mounting stuff to the firewall, making plug wires, steering column bolted in, driveshaft and trans seals, and finished up the trans tunnel.
Primer over "green lead" but it's smooth enough for carpet. It will get painted before I go back to work.

I see the small gaps both sides of the tunnel...
time is right to use some of the tunnel to fit your "lead" foot...
I hammered a sheetmetal half tube that matched the side of my foot... cut and trimmed to have it fit me and fit the '33's tunnel...
worked great... the upholsterer wanted me to fill it so it would look better? ... easier for him was the real story...
    .
I am in prosses of designing a step pad size brace that will swing out from under the seat and support the side of my right calf...

Once the tunnel is bolted down there are no gaps.

Getting carpet on the is good no to be a challenge. It might just get painted.
