I have a chance to buy this 1950 Ford. It has a 1956 Rocket engine. A 324 4 barrel, I believe. It has an adaptor plate to the original drivetrain and dual exhaust. It ran 2 years ago but the owner thinks that it has a broken piston skirt so he parked it. The owner is in his 70's and originally built it in the 60's. Says it started to rattle after he over-revved it when cold. Is $1400.00 too much or a good price? TIA
He has the title in hand. Forgot to mention that it has magnesium 10" wheels on the back and 5" or 6" on the front.
I've tried to deal it down but he won't budge. Says it'd just set there for anything less. This old man has been collecting for years. His boneyard has some where around 800 cars and trucks from the 40's to late 70's. He has cars all over the place. You can't see his house due to vehicles. He has them in the trees, pastures, hills and buildings. He really liked the 409 cars and convertibles.
I took a few pictures when I was there and will post some to let you see where I spent a whole day and never looked all of his stuff over very good.
Sounds like a good deal...if those are magnesium Torq Thrust style wheels in the back they worth most of a grand anyway....I have also seen guys ask more than that for just those wheels!
I agree with some of the others. Try for a 1,000, if that doesn't work, give what it takes to buy it.
If that's what you want buy it. There are people on here that if you told them it was $5.00 they would say offer $4.00, or I can buy them all day for $3.00. If it looks like somthing you can handle, do it. You don't get much for $1400.00, hell a big screen TV is more and you don't have as much fun.
........Just give him the $1400..........piss him off....He'll kick you off his land and you'll get nothing.......
I'd do it, can't tell from the pics but with the super duty bumper the front sheet metal can't be too beat up. I have a 50 slated for a 389 Pontiac with adapter(eventually).
Yeah I wouldn't argue too much over the price. Think about what you're getting....a complete project truck for $1400 with a title. I've seen guys where I'm at pay $2000 for a decent 1980's chevy truck (cab only) without a title!!! haha I think if you offer less you're gonna insult the guy....I'd be insulted!
That is what I noticed also. Good sheetmetal. I have one that is either rusted or dented on every corner. Looks like a good solid truck. Now since almost everyone agrees to just go and get it, let's see some pictures of it in your driveway. Neal
