Was in a discussion on another board about why Red Rims are popular, sombody mentioned that they could see the Red Rims but couldn't understand the Apple Green ones. I stated that the Red Rims were a fast cheap way to Spiff up a Hotrod and that I always associated the Green Rims with Toe Dancers. So I know for sure about the Red ones was it Toe Dancers that started the Green thing or someone else.
Alright, I'll bite. Whats a toe dancer? I've got red steelies on my 30 roadster and mopar green kelseys on my 41 truck.
I ran green wheels three years ago...I run black wheels now with dirt track tires, different hubcaps and 1" more taken from top/windshield.....Mike

When I was a kid, loooong time ago no hub caps, port-a-walls, brush painted red rims, maybe truck clearance lamps mounted in the wheel well were a statement. I can remember the suspension being painted red also. The dropped axle, radius rods, tie rod/drag link and rear were also red with less than professional white pin striping. Some guys used other colors, just to be different from the herd I guess. Apple green was a common stripe on what seemed like a lot of Ford cars produced with black paint. I always liked the apple green wires, still do, so I took the aluminum wheels off my vicky a couple years ago and painted some Paulsen steelies apple green and put em on. Before the aluminum wheels I had Olds and Mercury 15" original steelies on it painted body color stone deep gray, a 32 Ford color. Here's a photo of my friends T and our Vic with my son at GG Del Mar past.
