carb identification

  1. bought an old carter 1 brl cast iron carb at a flea market,thought it might be a ford v8 60 hp carb?anyway,it just says carter W-1,and has a aluminum choke housing,there´s a diestamped lid over the bowl that has the text oil under screw,and CARbureTER made in usa stamped in.idea´s?

    60 hp came with smaller version known as the "81" (Stromberg EE-7/8) was used on the smaller 60hp V8 engines from 1937 to 40.

  4. I was thinking 32-36 ford?didn´t those have 1 bbl carbs?the 81 is a 2 bbl isn´t it?

  6. that´s the one,mine differ slightly,but it´s the same model allright,cool,wonder what I´m going to do whith it? [​IMG]so I guess the buck n´a half I paid was cheap then.

    I thought carter W-1s also came one stuff like 39 chevys with 216s.
