I can't wait to see the "now" pictures. That car is awesome!
what a neat story.
Congratulations, rare to find something like that these days!
Just now found my issue of Dec.'63 Hot Rod. The '40 appeared to be red in the color photo coverage and I always thought it was. Turns out the caption describes it as brilliant Sunkist Orange. Anyone know the whereabouts of Treva Phillips, the model shown peering out the passenger side door? She looks good, in a 60's kind of way. Wonder where she is today......Don.
....WOW.....what a score.......hope you keep it the same as in 63......
If you get the itch to change ANYTHING sell it to someone that will leave it just as it is and buy yourself something else.
I will OK it if you decide to lower it however. It does need an altitude adjustment.
Wow that's the trick open a muffler shop and people will tell you where to find cool cars!
Way cool, now go find some halibrands and drive it.
Congrats on the find
Great score and history. You are the care takers now . Sounds like it found a good home. The history of my stuff is i found it in a ditch in a pasture.
I WOULD GO BACK WITH THE RED
Is that a shoebox Ford rear window?
hating you now even more when current pics arrive...
I was only tree and half years old when those HR pics were taken..
I remember that 40 in Hot Rod...amazing how the good stuff just keeps showing up...congrats on the find.
....brilliant Sunkist Orange
Look forward to seeing it at the LSRU
Waaaaaayyyy cooooollll!!!! Leave it BLACK!!!!!
Oh shit!! Nice score!!
Lucky bastard! That is awesome!
Congrats! Now lets see the rest!
i like the rear window
i like it in red too
now where are the pics of the 29
Great find. That '40 is killa!!!
Muy bueno mi amigo!!
That car deserves to be restored to how it appeared in Hot Rod Magazine. It represents a snapshot of hot rodding in 1963 and needs to be restored and preserved.
Nice find...I'm jealous!
X2. This exactly right. When you have a piece of history like this, you are merely the current caretaker and it really falls on you to preserve that history for future generations.
Some of the kewlest things happen when you least expect them, Yes sir you guy's lucked out on this score. I would like to see pics of the model a and the other items you got! Nice find!
what an odd combo of parts, but they some how work. killer score
