Ha, I was in Montreal staying at the hotel and the caribou fall hunting season was on. There were lots of 'mericans travelling through, we were sitting in the bar and a big ol boy in full cammo says to me "you boys here for the caribou hunt?" and I say "no sir, I just hunt cougar" he slapped his knee and said "GOOD ONE" and bought me a drink
No joke here, Cariboo meat is some seriously good eats...
Here are a couple pictures of my Canadian 1948 Pontiac Silverstreak. It has the 239ci flathead 6, and is in pretty good shape for it's age. Some of the difficulties though are the 6 bolt wheels, and finding out which parts are Chevy and which are Pontiac since these seem to be made from a bit of both. I'm toying with the idea of swapping out the motor for an OHC Pontiac to give me a little more power and reliability, but am still not sure what I want to do with the rear end, front suspension, etc. Plus there's updating the brakes, etc. etc.
Canadian differences, hmm...As far as I know, the Mercury trucks retained the flathead for an extra year in Canada before switching to the new OHV V8. There's a '54 near me with the flathead.
Anyone here seen a '59 Monarch Sceptre (Mercury Parklane)? Giant gold crown emblem on the trunk, crown hood ornament, and "Sceptre" in gothic lettering on the front fender. Encountered a sitting/rotting one a few years ago and spent a while searching online to figure out what it was. Looked something like this:
That is some really solid lookin' Canadian sheet metal!
I have never seen one of those.
Holy! A '59 Monarch Sceptre must be incredibly rare! Very cool!
Wow! That's wicked!
There was a movie...
Here's a '61 Pontiac Laurentian I found sitting in the bush.
Liv4ths ... These ads are a beauty!!!
They're pretty darn neat aren't they!!
Canada is truly full of minerals, copper, nickel, gold, and even the odd precious metal deposits!!!
...i think that is one of the best ideas yet!
Love Kevin's Canadian 57 Pontiac. Has a 283, 3 speed on the column and a sweet pair of pipes. He's brought it to BTT50s a few times. I love the chevy-style hanging pedals...makes more sense than the old Pontiac floor pedals. I rode around in it a few years ago....nice driver for sure.
Could not agree more!! Nice Ponch!!
This '54 is now for auction on eBay!!
How about s 1958 Pontiac Safari with factory 348, 4 barrel, dual exhaust and 3 speed manual.
Be still my heart.
