So i bought a bunch of parts a month or so ago for flathead fords un intentionally, kinda... Been selling parts since, and today my neighbor flagged me down and asked if i would be interested in a flat head motor... Why sure how much you want for it?... Pick it up and its yours... I know very little about flatheads... Whats some cool things to do to them? I do have an old Judson sitting around... Will it work on a flathead? Thoughts? Ideas?
Do you know anything about the engine's background? Are the water outlets in the top center of the heads or in the top front corner? Where's the distributor? Do you see any numbers cast into the block, or is it covered by sludge? To get a feel for its overall potential, flip the engine over, remove the oil pan, and look for cracks in the block around the main web. Then, remove the heads and look for cracks around the valve seats. Then go into the HAMB's tech archives and start reading... Good luck!
That Judson is off of a 1954 Triumph tr-2 factory left hand drive road race car, (the cars in my basement and i put to much boost to it and blew the head... So it wont miss it for a bit... What size judson would a flathead need? Havent seen the motor yet, ill pick it up tomorrow, its in the living room of this house he rents out...
I dont think the Judson will move enough air for a flathead Ford unless you overdrive it a lot. The TR engine was about half the size of a flatty.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsZnzsHwOU0 this one is at salina ever year. i belive they are alittle short of being a large hp gain but im sure it doesnt hurt it none. if a guy could swap pullies might be able to bump the boost alittle. do you have the complete oiling system of it?
Ya i have everything on that triumph. I just have the judson off because i blew the head and its hard to find one for it...
