Magnesiums specifically ! I'm not really wanting to know about out of the box brand new stuff. So what does this look like with big window sprint halibrands on the back and narrow early american torque thrusts on the front??

It probably looks just right for a 60s era car.

Put the Halibrands on one side and the Americans on the other.
It will look like 2 different cars.

If you look back at the magazines from the early sixties, Especially with comp cars, mixed sets of mag wheels were very much the norm. As a matter of fact, it was more common than cars with full sets of one or the other. Seems like by the latye sixties, that changed big time.

Yes, it has rules. Rule #706 says you can mix early style mags on pre '64 cars. ;)

Yup, you can do what ever you want. He didn't ask if he could do it, he asked how it would look. Some things look "right", but a lot of things don't.

on this ! thinking about 15 x 8 MAGNESIUM SPRINTS ON REAR, 15X6 AMERICAN MAG ON FRONT

  13. A car like that should be riding on steelies. Keep the mags for a race car or at the very least a fenderless hot rod. 6's are kinda wide for the front anyway. IMO

That's one Badass '33. Run the Mags they will look outstanding. Maybe trade the 6's for more narrow fronts. But the offset will set the front look if your 6's are shallow in the front it'll look just fine.

  15. I agree with RICH B, The full fendered cars look better with steelies. Something like this,

  16. Awesome car, but full-fendered and a full hood - That car screams steelies!!!!!!

I feel mags, especially mis-matched ones, would be trying to make that car into something it's not.

I think it looks about perfect like it is,but it is cool to swap rolling stock around for a change.
I think some very narrow sprints or kidney beans on the front, with six or seven inch on cheaters in the back would be killer.
Maybe kidney beans in front with sprints in back.
To me,the only time torque thrusts look good mixed with anything else is when they are spindle mount.
    Just my three cents worth.:)

Man, I have to disagree. Full fendered cars look good with both (steelies OR mags), I prefer mags though....

    Ameribrands?!

  21. Oh my goodness!!

Don't change a thing on this car! That is one of the most sinister, classy, beautiful things I've ever seen.

If you're looking for a change, try a new air freshener, but that car is downright perfect.

Spot-on reply needslouvers! That is what I distinctly remmber as well as cars mixing steel wheels (chrome or otherwise on th rear) with mag style wheels on the front.

Errr Ahhh... I'm all for rules, (unwritten of course) 'cause certain things just look right, but full fendered cars HAVE to run steelies? Guess they have to be chopped too to be real hot rods! This "new traditionalism" has gotten a bit weird in the last decade or so...

I fully agree!! I love the look of the John Davies coupe.

On my pickup I run 5 spoke spindle mounts and aluminum slots. I actually like the look of the mismatched wheels.
